Memorial Day Weekend in San Francisco

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on April 9, 2017

What better way to spend the long holiday weekend – and the official kick off to summer – than with a trip to San Francisco. San Francisco is home to one of the country’s largest and longest running Memorial Day traditions. Every year on Memorial Day starting at 10:30 AM, members of the military, family and friends gather at the National Cemetery in Presidio to honor those who have died for our country. Open to the public, the service last until 1:30 PM. While at the National Cemetery, be sure to check out some of the other attractions, including two World War II era boats that now serve as floating museums. A trip to Fort Point National Historic Site is also worth the trip.

No Memorial Day weekend would be complete without a trip to the ballpark for our national pastime. The San Francisco Giants are at home Friday through Sunday. So head over to AT&T Park along the Bay and cheer on the local team as they take on the Atlanta Braves. While you’re in the bay area, be sure to book a two-hour sunset cruise. Most cruises take in such popular San Francisco landmarks as the Palace of Fine Arts, the Golden Gate Bridge, Angel Island and, of course, Alcatraz. Tickets include food and a cocktail. Boats also have a cash bar on board. Sunset tours depart at 7:00 PM.

For those who don’t have their sea legs yet and who prefer to stay on dry ground, the city also offers numerous free walking tours. One of the most popular are organized by the San Francisco Public Library. Their Memorial Day Weekend lineup includes an informative stroll around the Mission District to an Alfred Hitchcock movie themed walk. All you have to do is show up!

After a day of walking and exploring, why not end the night by taking in a play or a concert? The popular Broadway musical Hamilton is in town now, along with the popular Roman Holiday. For music lovers, such big name acts as Lady Antebellum, Kelsea Ballerini and Brett Young are all in town and playing at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View.

No matter how you choose to spend your San Francisco Memorial Day weekend, National Limousine Service (NLS) will get you there. Book your car today!
