Bay Area Springtime: Cherry Blossoms

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on March 28, 2016

Spring is in the air. How do we know? One of our favorite Bay Area signs of the season change is the blossoming cherry tree. Cherry trees are not only a reminder of springtime, but they are a symbol of our diverse community, as well, such as the Japanese American community. In Japanese Culture, the cherry blossom symbolizes humility and hope, and hundreds of thousands of visitors and residents gather together annually to celebrate them here in San Francisco. In fact, this year, 2016, marks the 49th year of an internationally renowned festival. April 9th through the 10th and the 16th through the 17th are the key dates.

What might you expect to find at the festival? Bonsai displays, tea ceremonies, Japanese music, and origami are among the showcases and events that you’ll enjoy. Among the less expected activities are the golfing events, including the chance to win $10,000 as a prize.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to learn more about a deeply rooted culture, one that’s essential to the Bay Area, the Cherry Blossom Festival will also offer a number of educational opportunities about Japanese and Japanese American Culture. Learn about the Ikebana foliage arrangement, as it symbolizes the heaven, the earth, and the human. Are you familiar with the Mikoshi Purification Ceremony or the craft of Mataro Doll making? Of course, no festival would be complete without parades, and Hello Kitty will be at the event, as well.

Of course, as with any popular San Francisco event, parking can be problematic. Public transportation, such as the bus, is one solution, but we’d like to invite you to consider riding with Nationwide Limousine Service. At your convenience, contact our reservation specialist with questions or to book your reservation: 800-339-8936.

Some locals and visitors would rather avoid the hustle and bustle of the festival altogether. Nevertheless, who doesn’t want to see the springtime blossoms? The San Jose rose garden and Golden Gate Park are lovely alternatives.

Regardless of how you’d like to view the cherry trees within our breathtaking Northern California community, our locally owned and operated luxury transportation company has affordable offerings for you and yours. Consider a luxury stretch limousine, a Rolls-Royce Silver-Cloud Convertible, or another of our sophisticated vehicles ideal for your spring outings. Happy Spring!
