46th Annual Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival and Parade

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on October 11, 2016

Fall has descended onto the Bay Area, and even though we might not have the bursting colors of New England, we still like to offer up our happiness that the cooler weather is on its way, that sweaters are being taken out of closets and hats are being knitted by our lovers.  For those of you in or around the Bay Area this weekend, we are excited to tell you about our first fall-specific event of the season: the 2016 Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival and Great Pumpkin Parade.

Starting on Saturday, October 15th, and running until Sunday, the 16th, the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival is a great time to bring your friends and loved ones out for a harvest festival done in the San Francisco way.  Of course there will be a pumpkin measuring contest, but have you ever seen pumpkins the size of Volkswagens? We suspect not! Furthermore, the self proclaimed “Picasso of Pumpkin Carvers” will be on hand to carve these beauties into fantastic and unbelievable shapes and figures.

This festival of pumpkinny-delights also includes things such as:

  • Arts and crafts created by some of the country’s most talented artists all inspired by the harvest season and all things fall.

  • The best pumpkin pie anywhere on the planet earth (and we very much doubt that people are making pumpkin pies somewhere else in the universe).

  • Plenty of live music happening on several different stages throughout the two day event.

  • The largest pumpkin mosaic, created by the uber talented Peter Hazel.

There will be more than 200 artists on hand to sell their original works to you, including pieces made from wood, glass, bamboo, stone, clay, and leather.  Pick up some original jewelry for a loved one (Christmas is only a stone’s throw away!), or grab a new centerpiece for your own table.

All of this surrounds the famous Pumpkin Parade, which will wind down Half Moon Bay’s historic Main Street, so don’t miss out!  The Pumpkin Festival and Parade take place from 9-5pm in Half Moon Bay, close enough to San Francisco to make it convenient, far enough away to make it fun.
