21st Annual Ghirardelli Square Chocolate Festival

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on September 9, 2016

Who loves chocolate?  Just about everyone!  Which makes this weekend spectacular because, for the 21st year in a row, San Francisco’s Ghirardelli Square will host its Annual Ghirardelli Square Chocolate Festival.  This means that you will experience chocolate in a completely new and in-depth fashion, complete with demonstrations by chefs, eating contests, and classes in making chocolate on your own.

This festival is not a mediocre attempt to praise chocolate but an all out tribute to the delicious treat that so many of us would do just about anything to possess.  More than 50 different chocolate vendors will be on hand to give you samples (which, at $20 for 15 samples, isn’t the cheapest festival happening this Summer, but, and let’s be honest here, we’d spend a lot more than that when it comes to chocolate), and plenty of events to fill out your day, like:

  • Chocolate School with Steve Genzoli, a Ghirardelli chocolatier and renowned chocolate genius.

  • A demonstration by pastry chefs from Waxman.

  • A presentation by the winner of the James Beard Award for Best Pastry Chef, Angela Pinkerton.

  • Not one, but TWO chocolate ice cream eating contests.

If you like chocolate—and the odds are good that you do—then this is an event that you will not want to miss.  Among the many vendors on hand for the event are:

  • Chocolate Beverage Carta Coffee

  • Merchants Coffee

  • Cool Beads Ice Cream

  • Peet’s Coffee

  • The Upper Crust Baking Company Pastries

  • McCormick & Kuleto’s Chocolate Tarts

  • Lagunitas Brewing Company

  • 21st Century Spirits Vodka

  • Angry Orchard Cider

  • Sconza Candy Company

  • The Rustic Puff Marshmallows

  • Many, many more

One of the best things about the whole event is that every penny of the proceeds goes directly to Project Open Hand, a San Francisco non-profit organization that works to make sure that senior citizens and others in need receive good, homemade food.

The 21st Annual Ghirardelli Square Chocolate Festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday, September 10th and 11th, and runs the entire day (because it is important to dedicate as much time as is humanly possible to consuming all the chocolate!) Bring your family, bring your friends, or come alone.  This is going to be amazing.
