Family Fun in San Francisco

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on May 11, 2015

Spending time with family is fun no matter what you’re doing, but why not make your family bonding time even more special? It’s important to pick a place where each family member can find something to enjoy. Luckily, San Francisco has a lot of options. Here are some of our favorites.

A Visit to the Golden Gate Park

The iconic Golden Gate Park is so beautiful you could just relax and have a great time without really doing anything, but for restless family members, there’s also plenty to do. Golden Gate Park has a playground for children, rose gardens, and the tallest artificial waterfall on the West Coast. Relaxing in the rose garden, playing near the waterfall, and taking photos of the endless flowers and expansive views is a great way to spend a day with the family. For teenagers into skating, on Sundays the park is closed to vehicles to make more room for bikers and skaters.

Beach Day

There are four main beaches in San Francisco that families can visit for a fun-filled day. On the Ocean Beach, which is to the west of the city, you can walk or jog for four miles on the sand, making it perfect for active families. After you catch your breath can sit on the sand and gaze out onto the water, or visit the Cliff House for a nice view of the Pacific Ocean. You could even stay into the night and have a cookout (though be warned that bonfires cannot have a diameter of more than three feet).

China Beach is another great San Francisco family beach. Adjacent to the residential Seacliff district, this is a peaceful beach great for hanging out on the sandy playgrounds or playing a family game of Frisbee or volleyball.

Baker Beach is another great family venue, located just below the Lincoln Boulevard. From this beach, you can take in great views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands.

The Cartoon Art Museum

The Cartoon Art Museum on Mission Street, is the only cartoon museum on the entire west coast, and it’s fun even for non-comic lovers. The rotating exhibits of art from comic books mingle with animated movies, cartoon advertisements, newspaper exhibits, videos, sculptures, and more. The collection dates all the way from the 1730s to today, adding a historical touch. From children’ favorites to editorial cartoons, there’s something for the whole family. Plus, on the first Tuesday of every month you can ‘pay what you wish’ instead of a set fee. The only problem with family excursions is that parking can be a nightmare. Make a day of it, and give your family a day out to remember, with a limo service. Call NLS Limo today at 800-339-8936 to learn more.
