William Elliott Whitmore Returns to San Francisco

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on April 8, 2015

It’s been two years since the Bay Area has been treated to a show by the unparalleled William Elliott Whitmore, but that’s about to change this May 27, 2015. The gravel-voiced man from Lee County, Iowa will grace the stage of the Great American Music Hall, 859 O’Farrell St, San Francisco, CA. The show starts at 7 p.m. and the opening act will be Esme Patterson.

There are two levels of tickets for this show, with General Admission being $17 plus fees. Those wanting to have dinner with their show will pay $41 plus fees. Tickets are available via the Great American Music Hall, or several online vendors. Please note that ticket prices may vary depending on the vendor you choose, and the fees which they add.

William Elliott Whitmore is signed by Anti-Records, in the same company as Tom Waits, Tweedy and Neko Case. His career began with Southern Records, which put out his trilogy “Hymns for the Hopeless,” “Song of the Blackbird” and “Ashes to Dust,” all of which centered on the loss of his parents and other loved ones. Whitmore started his career by playing as the opening act for punk bands, such as Ten Grand and Meth and Goats.

Whitmore has also collaborated on albums with Jenny Hoyston, POS, Murder By Death, and more. He has also opened up for Chris Cornell from Soundgarden, and appeared on Australia’s version of the Today Show. He also has three sessions on the famous website Daytrotter. Most of his fans though come from his live shows, which are a sight to see.

Whitmore’s newest album is Radium Death, following on the footsteps of Field Songs. Both are getting critical acclaim, and a lot of attention from major music magazines and websites. His songs are reminiscent of age-old hymns and railroad songs, but with a new edginess relating to politics, the Earth, and of course, his home state of Iowa. For a taste of true Americana from fly-over country, go see the William Elliott Whitmore show on May 27th.
