On Tuesday December 1st and Wednesday December 2nd at 8 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m., The Dandy Warhols will play the Great American Music Hall at 859 O’Farrell in San Francisco. The show will be well worth the $30 ticket price or the $54.95 for dinner and admission. Joel Gion and Miranda Lee Richards will open.
The Dandy Warhols have created pop masterpieces by combining a Rolling Stones-type rhythm with some alt-rock sensibility. This band specializes in creating tunes that will stick with you for weeks. Lyrical masterpieces meet methodical innovation when the Dandies take the stage. Hits like “Bohemian Like You” showed that, while experimental music may be groundbreaking and edgy, having an awesome danceable tune trumps it all. Their shows have always combined the artistic element suggested by their name with straightforward alternative rock.
It’s not the least bit surprising that this band hails from Portland, Oregon. Art meets melody. Then, add a lack of artifice and a tremendous live show, and this combination represents the Pacific Northwest perfectly.
Their releases in 2012 and 2014 have kept this band as relevant as ever. Their 2014 live full-length album titled Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia Live at the Wonder clearly indicates a band that is still establishing their best work.
The Great American Music Hall is San Francisco’s oldest nightclub. It was opened in 1907 but has been kept in perfect condition. From its elegant marble columns to the ornate balconies, the GAMH is a pleasure for visitors and locals alike.
