The band is celebrating their third album release and further enjoying the success that began with Chris Robinson’s earlier groundbreaking group, The Black Crowes. Today Robinson (guitar & vocals) is joined by Neal Casal (guitar & vocals), Adam MacDougall (keyboard), Tony Leone (drums), and Mark Dutton (bass). The CRB carries on in that grand tradition of making new music with an anchor in nostalgic southern-fried rock and blues. Think straightforward rock and roll with a hint of psychedelia, a perfect San Francisco mix.
The music of The Chris Robinson Brotherhood combines the best elements of a jam band with tight songs that never lose sight of the melody. Each song is distinctive. Each has a defined beginning and an end but with some space allowed for improvisation, too, and what better place to enjoy a truly unique band than in a truly unique space?
The Fillmore opened in 1912 and existed as a dance hall through the 30’s. It was a roller rink in the 40’s! By the 1950’s it had become the epicenter of black music, and later The Fillmore played a role in earning San Francisco a prominent reputation as a bohemian bastion. Most of the musical greats have played at The Fillmore over the past 100 + years.
