The Chapel is one of San Francisco’s Best Venues for Live Music, Great Food and Cool Ambiance

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on August 4, 2014

The Bay Area in general, and San Francisco in particular, are blessed with some superb venues for hearing live music. Some offer great views of the city and the Bay, others are lovingly restored vaudeville theaters, many have outstanding acoustics and others have a unique sound, style and feel all their own. One of the best examples of the latter category is The Chapel, located in San Francisco’s Mission District. This cool club opened in a historic building built in 1914 that was a mortuary for many years. The stage and main bar are located in the former sanctuary of the mortuary and the arched ceilings and intimacy of the room make this venue one of the best and most unusual places to see and hear live music in the city.

The interior of The Chapel is a bit dark, with crimson as the main color scheme. This gives the place a warm, cozy feel and makes the already-intimate stage seem even closer to the audience. The arches above the floor add to the ambiance of the main room and if you prefer to look down on the stage and the musicians, you can move upstairs to the mezzanine, which features its own bar and restrooms for comfort, convenience and easy access to refreshments during the show.

If you’d like a bite before, during or after the show, you can dine in The Vestry restaurant in an adjacent room or order from the bar menu in all other parts of the building. The fare trends toward Mediterranean cuisines with affordable prices ranging from $12 to $24 on entrees. The Chapel has a varied and innovative drink menu for folks who like to explore new terrain but there are plenty of standards and the bartenders have a reputation for giving generous pours.

As in most San Francisco neighborhoods, parking can be problematic. There are a couple pay parking garages nearby but they’re expensive and may close before you’re ready to leave the club. Your best bet is to call Nationwide Limousine Service at 800-339-8936 and reserve a corporate sedan, party bus, or stretch limousine! The hours for the restaurant run from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tuesday through Sunday and the Chapel Bar is open from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. nightly. The Chapel is located at 777 Valencia Street in San Francisco. For more information about the club, the concert listings and the menu, visit the official site at http://www.thechapelsf.com. If you see a show that interests you, remember that this is an intimate room and can sell out quite quickly, so plan accordingly, and have a great time!
