RSSSFJAZZ Summer Sessions
The SFJAZZ 2015 Summer Session runs from July 16th though August 23rd taking place at the SFJAZZ Center at 201 Franklin Street within the hall’s Miner Auditorium and Joe Henderson Lab. Alternatively, three mid-August concerts will take place nearby at the sophisticated Davies Symphony Hall.
Great Americas Songbooks, Film + Music, and More
The first week will focus on the Great Americas songbook, exploring the music of greats such as Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, and Bob Dylan, shifting into a journey within Native Mexican and Mexican American musical traditions. In the first half of August, the festival will celebrate Big Band, Central and South American, and African music before the concert series gives itself over to the open dance floor Get Outta Your Seat! events and a first-ever Film + Music week.
Some of the many talented performers include Anna Hampton Callaway, Freddy Cole, Tania Libertad, Orkestra Rumpilezz, Tinariwen, and even Blues giant Buddy Guy. Golden Globe nominee Antonio Sánchez & Migration will serve as the season finale on August 23rd. The full calendar of events is available online.

The SFJAZZ Center opened in 2013 celebrating the Bay Area’s rich history in the genre. The second floor of this pristine building features commissioned tiled murals: “Jazz and The Nation,” “Jazz and The City,” and “Jazz and The Afterlife” by California-based visual artists Sandow Birk and Elyse Pignolet. Both the Miner Auditorium and Joe Henderson Lab offer state-of-the-art acoustics for the best listening experience.
