Global Transportation Organization Asking Taxis and Limousines to Go Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on October 4, 2010

The Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Association (TLPA) is urging members of its worldwide organization to paint one vehicle in their fleet pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In addition to the painted vehicle, the TLPA is asking participants in its “Pink Ride” campaign to donate funds to promote research in the fight against a disease that affects one in eight women in their lifetime. They ask members to paint all or a portion of one of their vehicles pink or affix the official pink ribbon decal with the TLPA logo with the words “Pink Ride” next to it.
Founded in 1917, the TLPA is a non-profit organization of private passenger transportation professionals. More than 1,000 limousine services, taxicab companies, airport shuttle service providers, non-emergency medical transportation companies and paratransit services around the world are members.

The TLPA’s campaign is designed to have a positive impact locally, nationally and globally. The pink vehicles seen in cities around the world will raise awarness about the scope of the breast cancer problem. Local donations will benefit hospitals, cancer treatment centers and other healthcare facilities in members’ communities. TLPA members also have the option of donating funds to the American Cancer Society, which will ensure donations are disbursed to ACS chapters in members’ areas.

“Our members are taking the breast cancer fight to the street, literally. This     campaign is as much about visibility, reminding people in October that fighting breast cancer requires as many of us as possible to get involved, as it is about raising funds for breast cancer organizations such as the American Cancer Society who do so much for us to get closer to finding a cure,” said Alfred LaGasse, CEO of TLPA.

The TLPA reports that limousine and taxi companies in more than half of all U.S. states have joined the campaign as well as transportation companies across Canada.

While we are not members of the TLPA, we applaud their efforts as anything that raises awareness about breast cancer and increases donations brings us one step closer to finding a cure for this and other types of this terrible disease. We may not be members, but we are a professional limousine service that has been serving San Francisco and the Bay Area for years. We provide a huge fleet of meticulously maintained vehicles from which to choose, outstanding customer service and very competitive rates.
