Centenarian Celebrates 107th Birthday With Limo Ride

Tulsa resident Lenora Jenkins knows a little about life; she’s 107 years old. She says the Golden Rule has been the template for her life thus far, and she may be onto something.

“I treat everybody like I would like to be treated,” she said. “Love your neighbor. Be kind to everyone.”

To celebrate her 107th birthday recently, Ms. Jenkins rented a limousine and treated herself and some family members to a limo ride and dinner at her favorite barbecue restaurant and around town after dinner. She’s a remarkable woman. She still lives independently, does her own cooking and cleaning, takes no medication and is a voracious reader. Born in Texas, she was married to her husband for 65 years, and she has lived in Colorado and California. She now lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

“Well, I’ve seen the world,” she said. “I’ve been through a lot. Now, I’m 107, and I thank the Lord for my health.”

She also has some wisdom to pass along to those with less life experience. “You know, when you get old, don’t be grouchy,” she said. “When you laugh, you have somebody to laugh with you.”

We applaud Ms. Jenkins and wish her many more Happy Birthdays, continued good health and independence. It would be an honor to be her limo service on such a remarkable milestone.
