Russian Website Sponsors Presidential Limo Design Contest for Putin

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on March 29, 2013

Some months ago, we wrote about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s desire for a new presidential limousine. Putin announced to his cabinet that it was time for a new limo, with the stipulation that it had to be Russian-made, returning to a Soviet-era tradition. Recent Russian presidential limos have included BMWs and Mercedes, but Putin wisely wanted a uniquely Russian luxury vehicle to transport him and other dignitaries. Seizing on the opportunity to please the president (and market their businesses, no doubt,) Russian web portal CarDesign.ru and custom sports car manufacturer Marussia Motors have sponsored a presidential limo design contest.

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on March 26, 2013

A group of disgruntled current and former San Francisco black car service chauffeurs for Uber gathered recently outside the company’s headquarters in San Francisco to protest unfair treatment from their employer. Regular readers of this blog know that Uber, which started right here in San Francisco, allows users to arrange town car service with a smartphone or internet connection 24/7/365. California Passenger Carriers Very Unhappy With CPUC Ruling on Ridesharing

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on March 25, 2013

San Francisco limousine services, black car services and other luxury transportation providers, as well as those outside the Bay Area, are very unhappy with a recent ruling by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) regarding what has been called “ridesharing.” The ruling allows private companies such as Uber, Lyft, Sidecar and others to operate outside the rules and regulations established for passenger carriers like us. These regulations, licensing requirements, insurance mandates and other rules are in place to ensure passenger safety and provide protection for passengers in the event of an accident.

New Presidential Limousine Flown To Israel After Mistake By Staffers

By San Francisco Limousine Specialist on March 24, 2013

President Obama’s recent trip to Israel hit an unexpected snag when his presidential limo, nicknamed “The Beast” was disabled by a rather unbelievable mistake by a member of his staff. The Beast broke down shortly after having its gas tank filled with diesel fuel instead of gasoline. Details are sketchy, but it seems that a staffer who was supposed to prepare the limo for the President’s arrival at Gurion Airport made the mistake. When he attempted to start the limo and drive away, the engine stalled and would not start. Jordanian and Israeli officials reportedly scrambled to arrange a new limousine to transport the President and his staff, and a new limo was flown to Israel from the U.S. The disabled Beast was put on a flatbed truck and hauled away for repairs.
