SFO Airport Spares San Francisco Limo Companies From Clean Vehicle Policy Until 2016
The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) recently delayed enforcing its Clean Vehicle Policy program for limo services until 2016. SFO adopted the policy in 2000 to encourage all vehicles picking up and dropping off passengers to use alternative fuels by January 1, 2012. Limousines, cabs and all other service vehicles had until then to use electricity, propane or compressed natural gas (CNG). SFO is able to monitor Bay Area limo companies working on airport grounds because we have to register for an airport permit and pay an airport access fee each time we pick up passengers at the airport.
Rental Rates for California Limousine Companies
Every limousine service in our state is regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), which issues licenses, investigates complaints and levies fines and civil actions against unlicensed companies. The CPUC mandates that limo companies must base their rates on time of use or vehicle mileage. It cannot be both, and limo services are expressly forbidden to charge on a per passenger basis. The only exceptions to the per passenger rule are the following:
Limo Companies That Bait and Switch Paint Us All in a Bad Light
Sometimes we discuss a topic that is a bit embarrassing because we want our guests to know what to look for when renting a limo in other markets. We also discuss unflattering aspects of the limo rental business because we like to point out that the vast majority of limo services are ethical businesspeople interested in taking good care of their guests. However, like businesses of all kinds, there are always a few limo services that make it harder for the rest of us. What are we talking about? We’re talking about limo companies that use bait and switch tactics on their clients.
San Francisco Limousine Smartphone Application Subject of Legal Action
UberCab, Inc., a technology company here in California, recently launched an application for smartphones that allows users to summon a San Francisco limo from anywhere in the city. The app provides information on estimated time of arrival, lets users know when the limo has arrived and even processes payment when the trip is complete. Limousines, cabs and other types of group transportation in San Francisco are regulated by two agencies:

A court has ordered an environmentally friendly limo service based in Cambridge, MA to pay its chauffeurs $75,000 in a lawsuit settlement. PlanetTran, a limo rental service in the Boston area, apparently cared more about establishing its “green” credibility than it did about paying its drivers an entirely different kind of green, the tips the chauffeurs had earned by transporting the limo service’s guests.
Rent a Limo With Friends and Co-Workers This Holiday Party Season for Safe, Affordable Fun
While friends, families and employers are busy planning their upcoming holiday parties, you can do some planning of your own by renting a San Francisco limo to get you and yours from one party to the next. Everyone wants to have a good time at parties, but some of us tend to have too much fun and regret reaching for that last drink or two. You don’t have to rent a limo to get around during the holiday party season. There are plenty of cabs in the area. However, if you’ve ridden around in one recently, you know they are anything but comfortable and that cleanliness isn’t a priority. In addition, you can ride in a cramped, funky cab anytime. Since it’s the holidays, why not add some fun to the events? Why should you rent a limo from us this coming holiday season? Here are a few good reasons:
Japanese Limo Manufacturer Launches New Galue Limousine
Japanese limousine manufacturer Mitsuoka has just unveiled a new limo based on the Nissan Teana. This four-door limo has an unusual look and seems to borrow design elements from a wide range of other luxury automobiles. The grille strongly resembles a classic Rolls-Royce grille with its strong vertical lines and bold, slightly angled frame. The headlamp configuration also suggests the classic Rolls look with very similar shape and positioning. The rounded fenders evoke a larger, more generous version of Jaguar’s sensuous lines, and the sloped back and chrome highlights also suggest that designers borrowed liberally from both British luxury automakers.
