Designer of Latest Presidential Limousine Discusses Some (But Not All) of the Project
A few years ago, a supervisor asked Draganel “Dan” Magda, Senior Designer at General Motors’ Cadillac design studio, if he wanted to work on a special project. Magda agreed, not knowing that the special project was a new limousine for the President of the United States. Magda had designed Corvettes and Saturn vehicles for GM, but the specially modified Cadillac presidential limo would be a very different kind of challenge. Magda was born in what is now Serbia in 1956, and shortly thereafter, his father moved the family to Canada to escape Communism. When Magda was ten years old, the family moved to Detroit where he dreamed of being a car designer.
What to Look for When Hiring a San Francisco Airport Limousine
When mass transit is out of the question, and you’d rather not deal with the questionable cleanliness and unpredictability of taxicabs, an airport limousine is the best choice. This is particularly true if there are a number of people traveling with you. With so many San Francisco limousine services from which to choose, what is the best way to separate the pros from the shmos? There are a number of things to consider when looking for a San Francisco airport limo such as the following:
Limousine Made from Scraps on Sale for a Cool Million
A giant limousine made from scrap pieces of more than 40 cars, limos and other vehicles from all over the world that took more than ten years to make is for sale in Florida if you have an extra million dollars laying around. The huge limousine is called the Finnjet. It is 22 feet long and weighs in at 7,500 pounds. The limo accommodates up to ten people in relative comfort and features several common limo amenities and other one-of-a-kind amenities found only in this one-of-a-kind custom limo.
New California Prom Limousine Law Passed
California lawmakers passed a new law last spring to address safety concerns about limousine companies, charter-party carriers and school transportation. Assembly Bill 830 (AB 830) requires limousine companies to get a specific type of permit from the Department of Motor Vehicles, and chauffeurs driving prom kids must receive additional training. The new law addresses vehicles classified as a School Pupil Activity Bus (SPAB). If a limousine transports students to and from schools and school functions, it has a SPAB vehicle classification.
New Powers for Vehicle Safety Agency in England to Crack Down on Illegal Limousines
Law enforcement officials with England’s Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) have new powers in their efforts to crack down on illegal limousines. Previously, VOSA officers had to wait for police to pull over limos they suspected were operating illegally. The new provisions allow VOSA officers to deal with suspected illegal limos without having to wait for police assistance. Like many other places, England has been having problems with illegal limousines operated by unlicensed companies and driven by unlicensed drivers.
Vintage Presidential Limousine Makes Rare Public Appearance
A 1919 Pierce-Arrow limousine that once belonged to President Woodrow Wilson made a rare appearance at a Kansas City vintage auto show recently. The beautifully restored vintage limo was the highlight of the Art of the Car Concours at the Kansas City Art Institute. The classic limo is drivable, but it normally sits inside the Wilson Presidential Library in Staunton, VA. This vintage Pierce-Arrow features a six-cylinder engine and was the ultimate in automobile luxury in the past. Brand new, the Pierce-Arrow limousine cost $9,600, a princely sum in 1919.
Hummer Limousine Stolen by Employee of Limo Company
A newly hired employee of a Dallas limousine company found an innovative way to lose his job recently. The man stole a Hummer limo from his employer and took it for a joy ride with a couple friends. Dallas police say that the 22-year-old man they have in custody is an accountant that the limo service just hired. After stealing the Hummer limousine, the man picked up a couple of his friends and began driving around the Dallas area.
